Logging into the FAEIS application

FAEIS now accepts federated logins from InCommon Identity Providers. If your institution already has a subscription to InCommon for research purposes, you will be able to log in through your institution. If your institution does not have a subscription you must create a Virginia Tech Guest Account. This video will cover both processes.

  1. Click “Login” button.
  2. Go to the search box labeled “Enter your organization’s name”.
  3. Begin typing your organization name. Possible matches are automatically presented. You can click a match to select it or finish typing your institution name.
  4. Click “continue” button.
  5. Log into your organization as usual.

If you are already logged into your organization, you will enter the FAEIS application immediately.

Organization is not listed

If you could not find your organization in step 3 you should follow the link to “Create a Virginia Tech Guest Account”. You will be asked for your email and name. Then you will confirm your ownership of the email account. Once confirmed you should be redirected back to FAEIS.

FAEIS uses the name returned by an identity provider to connect your authentication with an existing FAEIS account. If no FAEIS account is found for the email address, then a FAEIS report builder account will be created and you will only have access to run reports. If you need to provide data, you must contact the FAEIS helpdesk faeis@vt.edu and request access to your institution.

Password Creation & Recovery

If you have forgotten your password, during login, select your organization, click continue, then refer to the reset guidance provided on the selected authentication system for resetting passwords. Users of Virginia Tech Guest Accounts should select Virginia Tech then follow the password reset guidance on the Virginia Tech Gateway.
